At the DICE gaming event, Mark Rein of Epic Games came to promote the Unreal Engine technology and bring the Make Something Unreal modding contest to a close. However, when queried about the plans of Unreal Engine 4 release date, an unexpected answer was given.
Work is still being done on the Unreal Engine 4, but the release of that particular engine is still far off into the future. He states that the Unreal Engine 4 is designed with multi-core processors in mind. How many cores are required to be considered “multi-core processors” is still unknown, though I will speculate on my own to be quad or dual quad core. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 apparently still have far too few cores to fit the consideration, and possibly the next generation as well.
