LSI Corporation today introduced a new portfolio of asymmetric multicore silicon solutions and software for wireless applications. Built upon previous generations of industry-leading LSI wireless infrastructure solutions and designed to provide increased levels of intelligence, control and security for wireless networks, these next-generation processors are the realization of the asymmetric multicore blueprint first announced by LSI at Mobile World Congress in 2009.
The LSI asymmetric multicore architecture allows powerful purpose-built processors to be combined with PowerPC™ 476FP multicore processors. The asymmetric multicore architecture features new Virtual Pipeline™ messaging-passing technology, an industry-first, deterministic method that efficiently moves data between on-chip processors. The new LSI portfolio enables solutions for any-to-any wireless communications and provides a clear path to realizing a single-chip base station.
