Third quarter shipments of graphics processors jumped 21.2 percent compared to the second quarter, suggesting it will be a happy holiday season for PC makers and the industry in general, according to market research firm Jon Peddie Research (JPR).
Graphics processor shipments from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. increased 30 percent compared to the second quarter, while Intel Corp.’s shipments increased 21 percent, according to JPR. Intel shipped 63 million graphics processors during the quarter, more than twice as many as its nearest competitor, Nvidia Corp., the firm said.
