Sonics, Inc., a premier supplier of intelligent on-chip communications solutions, has announced the availability of the MemMax Memory Scheduler 3.0, a DRAM access scheduler ideally designed for use with DDR2 and DDR3. Targeted at SoCs requiring high-bandwidth traffic management to the memory subsystem, the new MemMax Scheduler accelerates on-chip performance while easing design integration. MemMax Scheduler is ideal for video processing applications that require high-volume data movement into and out of memory. It eliminates the DRAM ‘choke-point’ that diminishes the overall system performance by employing a variety of advanced scheduling techniques.
Real-world customer applications have seen utilization improvements of between 33 and 100 percent with the addition of MemMax Scheduler to simple memory controller systems. The new release supports data rates for DDR3-1600 Mbps and overall DRAM data transfer utilization in excess of 85 percent with heterogeneous multicore traffic.
