The next wave of semiconductors

India is a vital part of Freescale’s global R&D strategy. Sanjeev Keskar, Country Manager – Sales, Freescale Semiconductor India Pvt. Ltd. spoke to Malabika Sarkar about venturing into the medical segment and about the company’s upcoming projects and its tie-ups.

” The market is attractive today because of scale—whether it is scalability of talent for semiconductor design or the volume of electronics consumption and the Indian ecosystem has evolved utilizing this talent. Semiconductors are at the core of electronic devices today. The growing domestic consumption and production of electronics is a huge opportunity.

The recent IDC-ISA study estimates the compounded annual growth rate of the Indian semiconductor design industry to be 21.7% from 2007-2010. In 2007, the size of the industry was pegged at $6 billion and includes Indian and multinational semiconductor, embedded and board design companies.”
