Multicore processors are gaining popularity rapidly in embedded computer motherboard applications, and soon will be the processors of choice in the single-board computer market, according to analysts at market researcher VDC Research Group Inc. in Natick, Mass.
Multi-core processors first appeared in embedded applications two years ago, yet only last year 20 percent of embedded desktop motherboards had multi-core x86 processors, VDC analysts say.
